7 skincare tips for flying

Flying at 30,000 feet in an aeroplane is going to get you places faster than a car or boat, but your skin would prefer the slower journey

Keep skin as healthy as possible when flying

Having said that, there are ways to help your skin manage a high altitude flight to lessen the impact of dehydration and cabin pressure.

Skin has an important role – it provides a protective barrier against the outside world and regulates your temperature. Skin functions optimally in humidity of around 50% and most aeroplane cabins have about 20% humidity.

Long Flights

The result after a long flight can be dry, scaly or flaky skin which also feels oily – a double dose of skin problems. Detecting less moisture in the air, the skin produces more oil to protect and hydrate itself. Skin conditions such as rosacea, psoriasis and eczema also have a tendency to flare up on flights.

To keep skin as healthy as possible when flying, here are some skincare tips so that you can arrive at your destination feeling a little more comfortable in your skin.

1. Remove makeup when flying

You don’t need excess makeup on the skin, causing unnecessary blockages. It is best to let skin breathe as much as possible when flying. 2. Drink plenty of water

Stay hydrated from the inside out so that your skin does not dry out too much and overcompensate with excess oil production. Drink plenty of water and stay away from caffeine and alcohol which will only increase dehydration.

3. Use a Facial Mist
